We’re excited to bring back our Month of Love Fundraiser. This year marks our second annual Month of Love Fundraiser. This initiative was started by one of our customer service representatives out of our Lethbridge office. Catie created the fundraising event for food banks in and across the various cities for Red Arrow, Ebus, and now BC Bus North.
A little statistic to bring reality to why we are doing this:
Last year there were over 2 million visits to food banks in Canada — the highest number in history — representing a 6 per cent increase compared to 2023, and a 90 per cent increase compared to 2019. In addition, there are signs that the food-banking system is reaching its absolute limit. We need to help.
Did you know 33% of the attendees of food banks are children, 42% are single adults of all ages, struggling to make ends meet, 40% are on various disability or social assistance related programs, and 18% of Canadians who enter the food bank doors, and are full time or part time employees, and still struggle to afford food.
In the last year alone over 2,059,636 people visited the food banks, and that number will continue to climb, but we can help.
This year, each Red Arrow and Ebus office in BC and Alberta will be having Boxes or bins to accept donations for the food bank.
• Each Customer who donates food items will be given a discount of 10% to be used on their next trip. And their name entered to win a $50 gift certificate which will be drawn at the end of the month. When receiving donations, please make sure to get Name, Number and Email, each office can create their own ballots.
• We will have bottles of water with ribbon and tags that will be available to purchase for $1 at each location to help bring a little monetary donation to your local food banks.
